Transformation to the Bioeconomy
Content
The transformation to a bioeconomy requires the transformation of existing value networks, business models, infrastructures and governance systems. In this context, it is important to identify technologies and the resulting transformation paths under techno-economic aspects (e.g. technology readiness level) and to evaluate them under aspects of sustainability and acceptance.
Educational Objectives
Against this background, the objective of this seminar is to analyse and design potential bio-based value networks. Methods of techno-economic assessment, modelling and optimisation of supply chains, life cycle assessment and multi-criteria assessment can be used here. After a presentation of suitable methods (lecture and software tutorials), the students work in interdisciplinary teams on the design and evaluation of such value networks. The students work together in groups of 4-5 students, with each group submitting a term paper and presenting the intermediate and final results in a colloquium in each case.
