Hybrid processes for Important Precursor and Active pharmaceutical ingredients

Project:

A sustainable bioeconomy that is competitive with respect to ecologic and economic requirements will critically depend on novel highly interwoven value chains implementing “multi substrate – multi product” processes. Establishing such “hybrid processes” requires an extensive integration of microbial biotransformation, enzymatic cascade reactions, chemical synthesis steps and product recovery processes. Although the development of hybrid processes is highly promising, it is still in its infancy. The project HyImPAct aims at the design and techno-economic evaluating of a complex hybrid exemplary process for the combined production of high-value compounds and bulk chemical precursor with regard to ecological and economic feasibility.
