STROM

STROM – Strategische Optionen der Automobilindustrie für die Migration nachhaltiger Antriebstechnologien

(STROM - Strategic options of the automobile industry for the migration towards sustainable drivetrains in established and emergent markets )

Duration: 2010 - 2013

Funding: Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)

Objective: The project "STROM" analyses the interaction of actors in the automotive sector regarding the introduction of new drivetrain technologies (e.g. hybrid, electric, fuel cell vehicles). Decision models for politics (A), suppliers (B) and consumers (C) of these technologies are created on basis of respective objectives and requirements. The actor-specific models are then combined in an overall model (D) taking into account the resulting inter-dependencies. The aim is to identify effective and efficient allocations from the actors' and from the overall system's perspective as well as to assess the success of alternative drivetrain technologies.

The project is developed through a cooperation between the Chair of Operations Management at the RWTH Aachen University and chairs of the Technische Universität Braunschweig. The Volkswagen AG is acting as an associated partner. Within the project, an international research cooperation with the University of Michigan is planned.
