Climate Action Simulation Game On December 17th, as part of the „Sustainable Supply Chains“ course, our students participated in the Climate Action Simulation game—a dynamic role-playing activity that replicates the experience of a global climate summit. Co-developed by Climate Interactive, the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative, and the UMass Lowell Climate Change Initiative, the game provided a hands-on opportunity to explore strategies for combating climate change. Using the EN-ROADS Simulator, an interactive tool for assessing the impacts of various climate solutions, students engaged in collaborative decision-making and negotiation. Their efforts successfully limited global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius! |

Charlemagne Prize Academy Fellowship We are delighted that a member of OM Team was selected for the Charlemagne Prize Academy Fellowship (Year 2024/2025). Dr. Ali Abdelshafy is the head of the "Climate-neutral Industries" research group at the chair of Operations Management. He succeeded to convince the Charlemagne Prize Academy committee with his previous research work and his study on "Climate-neutral cities in the EU". As part of the fellowship, he will investigate the EU mission of achieving 100 climate-neutral cities by 2030. The study will evaluate the effectiveness of different enablers and assess their impacts on the city systems in order to derive a wide range of blueprints that fit a wide range of urban contexts in the EU. He will also explore the delicate balance between sustainability and prosperity, along with the key factors that influence this relationship, in order to optimize both and accomplish the mission efficiently. |

Workshop Expert-Workshop „Alternative drivetrain technologies in China – status quo and future developments” in context of the STROM-project (Oktober 1st, 2012) In which ways differ Germany and China relating to the topic of alternative drivetrain technologies? This question has been followed by german and chinese researchers within the framework of the expert workshop „Alternative drivetrain technologies in China – status quo and future developments“ on October 1st, 2012. In addition to presentations of chinese researchers of the Tongji University Shanghai and of german experts of the University of Trier and of the Hewlett Packard Company, the various challenges for politicians and automobile manufacturers while introducing alternative drivetrains have been discussed and trends in the behaviour of chinese car buyers have been identified. These new results and the better understanding of the chinese market will be used for the STROM project, which concentrates on market penetration of alternative drivetrain technologies in Germany and China. |
