Production Planning in the Automotive Industry

Content

This class introduces established methods of automotive production planning and gives an overview on innovative developments. It deals with strategic, tactical and operative planning in form of network, capacity and order-related planning. The planning tasks are motivated by practical problem situations and are defined by concepts and models based on case studies. Students will practice the implementation of those methods in exersice sessions, includig work with the software Gurobi.

Educational objectives

After a successfull completion, the students are capable of

  • Recapitulating strategic, tactical and operative planning tasks of the automotive production, as well as
  • Using methods of optimization and simulation to solve planning tasks in practical challenges.

  • 2 SWS lectures + 2 SWS tutorial
  • 5 CP
  • Language: German
  • Winter term
  • Type of exam: depending on the size of the class: written exam (60 minutes; 100%) or written exam (60 minutes; 85%) & written homework (15%) or written exam (85%) & presentation (15%)

Software

In the context of this class the Gurobi-solver via the Python interface is used. A free version of Gurobi is available here.
