Production and Logistics

Content

This lecture covers theoretical basics as well as practical scope for design and problems regarding value-creating and especially logistical transformation processes, which are illustrated and specified by several examples of different industries. The focus is set on intra-corporate production processes and on questions about Operations Management.

Educational objectives

  • Basic overview of production-economical and logistical contexts and questions
  • Knowledge of elementary specific terminology and basic models
  • Understanding of fundamental structures of operational production processes
  • Knowledge of quantitative solution approaches for simple managing tasks in production and logistics

Prerequisites

  • Expected knowledge: Basics in economic science and mathematics
  • Recommended: Previous participation in "Sales and Procurement" and "Micro-economics"

  • 2 SWS lecture + 2 SWS tutorial

  • Type of exam: Written exam (70 minutes), weighted: 100%

Furthermore, it is possible to improve the exam result by solving Dynexite-excercises in the L2P-learning room “Production and Logistics” and/or passing the offered business game. The exact way of improving ones grade will be explained at the beginning of the upcoming semester (at latest in the first lecture). The maximum improvement is one graded unit (e.g. from 3,7 to 3,3) and it is only acquirable in case the written exam is passed with a grade of at least 4,0. It is not possible to reach a grade better than 1,0.
