"Wirtschaft Aktuell II" (Current Topics in Economics II)

Content

Mobility enables participation in social and economic life and is thus an essential factor for a high quality of life. At the same time, increasing individual and freight traffic in cities limits the quality of life of many people. This contrasts with the low availability of mobility services in rural areas. In view of the striving for low-emission traffic, demographic change and technical progress, the integration of alternative mobility concepts and the design of sustainable mobility systems is indispensable.

The design of sustainable mobility systems is a long-term and complex task of great social significance. In the first step of the module, a selected mobility concept is examined and evaluated with regard to its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks for sustainable mobility systems. Based on a case study, the second step is to solve a relevant research question. The results are analyzed with the aim of gaining practice-relevant insights. The following mobility concepts are considered in the module:

  • Air Taxis
  • Autonomous minibuses
  • Continuous cycle path network
  • E-scooters
  • Mobility as a Service
  • Long-distance rail transport
