Topic ST 2025: Designing sustainable mobility concepts

Content

Mobility enables participation in social and economic life and is therefore a key factor in high quality of life. At the same time, increasing individual and goods transport in cities restricts the quality of life of many people. This contrasts with the low availability of mobility services in rural areas. In view of the desire for low-emission transport, demographic change and technological progress, the integration of alternative mobility concepts and the design of sustainable mobility systems is indispensable.

The design of sustainable mobility systems is a long-term and complex task of great social significance. As part of the seminar, students solve a current research question on selected mobility concepts. The results are analysed with the aim of gaining practical insights into the design of sustainable mobility concepts.

Specifically, the following topics are planned:

  • Location planning of charging stations for electric vehicles
  • Vehicle distribution in bike sharing systems
  • Location planning of mobility hubs
  • Cluster analysis of MaaS business models
  • Data analysis of external costs of personal mobility
